What is an Orgasm?

An orgasm is a delicious ripple of muscle contractions in your pelvis, pounding out at roughly 0.8 pulses per second. Sounds clinical, right? But what it really means is you’ve hit that point where your body clenches, releases and flutters like it’s trying to thank you for every filthy thought you’ve ever had.

Call it an orgasm, climax, cumming or just ‘oh yes’ – an orgasm is one of life’s naughtiest, most satisfying pleasures. The health benefits are well-documented, but even if it were bad for us... we’d still go back for seconds.

How to Orgasm

Orgasms don’t play by one rulebook. There’s no single way to get there – and frankly, getting there is half the fun. Whether you’re flying solo with your favourite toy, tangled up with a lover, or exploring entirely new sensations, the key is simple: chase what feels good.

You don’t need to collect every type like notches on a bedpost. But trying new tricks? Highly encouraged. Some of them might blow your mind. Others might not be your thing, and that’s just part of the ride. Get curious. Get dirty. Get off.

What Does an Orgasm Feel Like?

Think of an orgasm as a pressure cooker, building steam with every stroke, suck and thrust, then suddenly bursting in a sweet release of tension. Your muscles contract. Your skin tingles. Sometimes your whole body shudders. Sometimes you forget your own name.

There’s no one-size-fits-all climax. Yours might be soft and slow or fast and furious. You might shake, cry, laugh or melt. You might crave more the second it ends. And inside your brain? That post-orgasm cocktail of oxytocin and endorphins hits like a shot of love-soaked tequila: warm, dizzying and far too addictive to resist.

Types of Orgasm

There’s more than one way to blow your mind. We spoke to sex and relationship therapist Jodie Slee about the many ways women come – from clitoral to coregasm and everything in between.

  • Clitoral Orgasm: The classic crowd-pleaser. Just one touch to that magic bundle of nerves can set the whole body off.
  • G-spot Orgasm: It’s not as hard to find as you might think, and when you reach it, you’ll want to come back for more.
  • Blended Orgasm: Why stop at one spot? Double the pleasure, double the fun. Fingers, toys, tongues…take your pick.
  • Anal Orgasm: Packed with nerve endings and begging for attention; just take it slow and use plenty of lube.
  • A-Spot Orgasm: This collection of cells is called the Anterior Fornix. Deep, delicious and devilishly hard to reach. Size matters here.
  • Nipple Orgasm: Who knew your nipples could make you come? A lick, a squeeze, a clamp… or all of the above.
  • Coregasm: Gym clothes. Clenched thighs. Sweaty sessions. Sometimes the burn feels good.
  • Mindgasm: Want to play hands-free? No problem. A filthy fantasy and a few pelvic squeezes can take you all the way.

How to Fake an Orgasm

Short answer: don’t.

Why fake it when you could actually have one? If you’re not getting what you need, say so. Moaning like a porn star won’t teach your partner how to push your buttons, but guiding them, telling them exactly what makes you squirm? That’ll give you the sex you deserve.

Your pleasure’s not optional. And if someone can’t handle that? The door’s that way.

Orgasms are more than the big finish: they’re about connection and getting to know what turns you on. Explore, experiment and enjoy every second of the build-up. You deserve it.
